The Safety of Hire Boats on Inland Waterways
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has issued for consultation a draft code of practice for the design, construction and safe operation of (powered) hire boats on inland waterways. AINA, through its Safety Issues Group, has worked closely with MCA and the British Marine Federation (BMF) in the preparation of the draft Code.
All AINA members are urged to:
- respond to the consultation by 24 October 2008;
- draw it to the attention of all hire boat operators on their waterways; and
- encourage them to respond to the consultation.
