It's official! Government publicly says it will create a new waterways charity
On 14 October 2010 the UK Government announced, through a Cabinet Office press release that:
"British Waterways: No longer a Public Corporation - Abolish as a public corporatoin in England and Wales and create a new waterways charity - similar to a National Trust for the waterways."
